Overview

rifampin + VCT220 is a drug combination utilized in Phase I clinical pharmacology studies to investigate drug-drug interactions (DDI). VCT220 (also known as CX11) is an investigational, orally bioavailable, small molecule agonist of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), developed by Vincentage Pharma for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Rifampin is a macrocyclic antibiotic that acts as a potent inducer of cytochrome P450 enzymes (notably CYP3A4) and drug transporters such as P-glycoprotein (P-gp). The combination is specifically employed to evaluate the impact of metabolic induction on the pharmacokinetics, safety, and tolerability of VCT220 and its metabolite VCT289 in healthy volunteers. While VCT220 has progressed to Phase 3 registrational trials for obesity, this specific combination is used as a tool to characterize the drug's metabolic profile.
