RIGScan CR

RIGScan CR is a **radiopharmaceutical imaging agent** consisting of a **125I-labelled monoclonal antibody** (CR49) targeting the **tumor-associated antigen TAG-72**, designed to enhance intraoperative detection of occult and metastatic tumors during surgery, particularly for **colorectal cancer** and potentially other solid tumors. It is used in conjunction with **RadioImmunoGuided Surgery (RIGS)** technology, where a handheld gamma probe detects radiolabeled antibody bound to tumor tissue, aiding surgeons in identifying and removing previously undetectable cancer deposits. Developed initially by Neoprobe Corporation (later associated with Navidea Biopharmaceuticals), development was suspended in 1998 due to regulatory and financial challenges but was reinitiated around 2005-2011 with FDA pre-IND meetings and positive scientific advice from the European Medicines Agency.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
