rilematovir

Rilematovir is an investigational, orally administered small molecule antiviral that acts as a fusion protein inhibitor targeting the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) F protein. By binding to the RSV F protein on the viral surface, rilematovir inhibits the conformational changes required for fusion of the viral envelope with host cell membranes and for cell-to-cell fusion. This mechanism blocks RSV entry into host cells, prevents viral replication, reduces viral load, and decreases disease severity. Rilematovir has demonstrated activity against both RSV-A and RSV-B strains *in vitro* and has shown efficacy in reducing viral loads in clinical studies involving infants and children with RSV infection. The drug is being developed primarily by Janssen Sciences Ireland UC for treatment of respiratory syncytial virus infections[1][3][4][6].
