Rilogrotug (AV-380) is an investigational humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody designed to target and inhibit growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15), a pro-inflammatory cytokine associated with weight loss and muscle wasting in cancer patients. By binding to circulating GDF-15, rilogrotug aims to block its signaling, potentially shifting the body's metabolic state from catabolism to anabolism to treat or prevent cancer-induced cachexia. Originally developed by AVEO Pharmaceuticals (now a subsidiary of LG Chem), the drug is currently undergoing early-phase clinical evaluation to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy in reversing cachectic effects.
