rilpivirine

Rilpivirine is a second-generation non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) used in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection. It works by binding to and inhibiting the activity of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, thereby blocking viral replication. Rilpivirine is available as an oral tablet and as a long-acting injectable formulation in combination with cabotegravir for maintenance therapy in virologically suppressed adults. It has demonstrated efficacy comparable to efavirenz but with fewer central nervous system side effects and less impact on lipid profiles. The most common adverse reactions include depression, insomnia, headache, and rash[3][5][8].
