Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rilpivirine long-acting (LA) is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) formulated as an extended-release injectable suspension for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. It is administered as an intramuscular injection in the buttocks, typically alongside cabotegravir long-acting (CAB LA). This combination forms a complete long-acting regimen for maintenance therapy in virologically suppressed HIV patients. The long-acting formulation allows for dosing every 1-2 months, providing an alternative to daily oral medication.
