Rimiterol

Rimiterol is a third-generation, short-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist and direct-acting sympathomimetic bronchodilator. It acts primarily by selectively binding to β2-adrenoreceptors on bronchial smooth muscle cells, activating adenylate cyclase and increasing intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP), which leads to relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and bronchodilation. Rimiterol is used in the management of bronchial asthma and has a rapid onset of action due to its high affinity for β2-adrenoreceptors. Systemic administration can also produce cardiovascular effects such as increased heart rate and muscle tremor. The drug was initially developed by Riker Laboratories.
