Rincell-1 is a first-in-class regenerative cell therapy developed by Rinri Therapeutics for the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), specifically targeting neural hearing loss and auditory neuropathy. The therapy consists of human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-derived auditory neurons, also known as otic neural progenitor cells, which are designed to be injected into the inner ear to repair or replace damaged neural connections. By restoring the auditory neurons that transmit signals from the cochlea to the brain, Rincell-1 aims to address the underlying cause of hearing loss in patients where the neural pathway is compromised. It is currently being evaluated in a first-in-human clinical trial in adults who are candidates for cochlear implantation, where it is administered to assess safety and its potential to enhance hearing outcomes when used alongside standard care.
