Rincell-2 is an off-the-shelf cell therapy being developed by Rinri Therapeutics for the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss. It consists of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived human otic neuronal progenitor cells (hiPS-hONPs). The therapy is designed to replace damaged or missing auditory neurons in the cochlea, aiming to restore the neural connection between the ear and the brain. Unlike Rincell-1, which targets the replacement of auditory hair cells, Rincell-2 specifically targets the auditory nerve. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
