Overview

This small-molecule inhibitor of receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (RIPK1) is being developed by the Belfer Neurodegeneration Consortium (BNC) at MD Anderson Cancer Center. RIPK1 is a critical mediator of necroptosis (programmed inflammatory cell death) and pro-inflammatory signaling pathways. By inhibiting RIPK1, the compound aims to reduce neuroinflammation and neuronal loss. The primary indications under investigation include Alzheimer's disease and the prevention or treatment of brain inflammation following radiation therapy for brain tumors. The project is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
