Overview

Riptylimab (SCT-I10A) is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor. Developed by Sinocelltech (Beijing Tianguangshi Biotechnology), it acts as an immune checkpoint inhibitor by blocking the interaction between PD-1 on T-cells and its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, which are often overexpressed on tumor cells. This blockade prevents the suppression of T-cell activity, thereby enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy malignant cells. Riptylimab is primarily being investigated for the treatment of various solid tumors, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and gastric cancer, where it has reached Phase 3 clinical trials. Although some clinical trial documentation provided in this context associates riptylimab with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), this appears to be a nomenclature error in the source documentation, as NMOSD is typically treated with B-cell depleting agents like ripertamab (SCT400), whereas riptylimab is a PD-1 inhibitor used in oncology.
