Overview

This is a combination of two drugs, risperidone and DMXB-A. Risperidone is a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autism. It acts primarily as an antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors, helping to balance neurotransmitter levels in the brain[1][5]. DMXB-A (also known as GTS-21 or 3-(2,4-dimethoxybenzylidene)anabaseine) is an investigational small molecule that acts as a partial agonist at the alpha-7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. This receptor modulation has been studied for potential cognitive enhancement in neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia. The combination of risperidone with DMXB-A would theoretically target both psychotic symptoms (via dopaminergic/serotonergic antagonism from risperidone) and cognitive deficits (via cholinergic modulation from DMXB-A), though this specific combination does not appear to be approved or widely used clinically.
