Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Risperidone + moxifloxacin is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents with distinct mechanisms and indications. Risperidone is an atypical (second-generation) antipsychotic primarily used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autism. It acts mainly by antagonizing dopamine D2 receptor and serotonin 5-HT2A receptor in the brain, thereby modulating neurotransmitter activity implicated in psychosis and mood disorders[1][4][5]. Moxifloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections. Its bactericidal action results from inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication, transcription, repair, and cell division in bacteria[2][3][6]. This combination does not represent a standard or approved fixed-dose product; each drug retains its individual primary indication.
