Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rituximab-based chemotherapy (often referred to as R-chemo or R-chemotherapy) is a standard-of-care chemoimmunotherapy regimen that combines the CD20-directed chimeric monoclonal antibody rituximab with various chemotherapy backbones (such as CHOP, CVP, FC, or EPOCH). Rituximab targets the CD20 antigen on the surface of B-lymphocytes, inducing cell depletion through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), and direct apoptosis. The addition of rituximab to standard chemotherapy has significantly improved progression-free and overall survival across a range of CD20-positive B-cell malignancies. It is widely approved and utilized for the treatment of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), follicular lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), Burkitt lymphoma, and HIV-associated lymphomas.
