Overview

Rituximab + DHAP (commonly referred to as R-DHAP) is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of relapsed or refractory high-grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and other CD20-positive lymphomas. The regimen consists of four drugs: rituximab (a monoclonal antibody targeting the CD20 antigen on B cells), dexamethasone (a glucocorticoid steroid), cytarabine (an antimetabolite chemotherapy agent), and cisplatin (a platinum-based alkylating agent). Rituximab works by binding to CD20 on B lymphocytes, leading to their destruction through immune-mediated mechanisms. Cytarabine and cisplatin act as cytotoxic agents that disrupt DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells, while dexamethasone exerts anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, also helping reduce side effects from other drugs in the regimen. This combination is often used as salvage therapy prior to autologous stem cell transplantation[2][3][5][6].
