Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Rituximab + sargramostim** is a combination regimen consisting of rituximab, a monoclonal antibody targeting CD20 antigen on B lymphocytes, and sargramostim, a recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). Rituximab mediates B-cell depletion primarily via antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, complement-dependent cytotoxicity, and induction of apoptosis. Sargramostim acts as an immune modulator, stimulating the proliferation and activation of granulocytes and macrophages, and enhancing both innate and adaptive immune responses. In combination, this regimen is investigated for enhancing anti-tumor efficacy in follicular B-cell lymphoma, leveraging rituximab’s cytotoxicity with the immune-enhancing effects of sargramostim. This combination is primarily studied in the oncology context for newly diagnosed follicular B-cell lymphoma, aiming to improve response rates and progression-free survival[1][2][3].
