Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rivelin is a proprietary mucoadhesive patch technology developed by Afyx Therapeutics (formerly Rivelin Pharma) for the targeted delivery of pharmaceuticals to mucosal surfaces. The lead product candidate, Rivelin-CLO, consists of a thin, flexible, electrospun patch that incorporates the potent corticosteroid clobetasol propionate. Designed to adhere to the oral mucosa, the patch provides unidirectional drug delivery directly to inflammatory lesions while simultaneously acting as a physical barrier against the oral environment. This localized approach is intended to increase the concentration of the active ingredient at the site of disease, such as in Oral Lichen Planus (OLP), while reducing systemic exposure and improving patient compliance compared to traditional topical therapies like gels or mouthwashes.
