Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rivelin-CLO is a novel, biodegradable, mucoadhesive, electrospun intra-oral patch containing clobetasol propionate, a potent corticosteroid. Developed by AFYX Therapeutics, the patch is designed to provide localized, uni-directional delivery of the active ingredient directly to oral lesions, specifically for the treatment of symptomatic ulcerative oral lichen planus (OLP). The Rivelin patch technology allows for prolonged adhesion to wet mucosal surfaces (averaging 90 minutes), which facilitates targeted drug delivery while acting as a protective barrier. In Phase 2b clinical trials, Rivelin-CLO met its primary endpoint by demonstrating a statistically significant reduction in ulcer area and improvement in patient-reported symptoms with a favorable safety profile.
