Overview

Rivendo is a transdermal patch formulation of rivastigmine developed and manufactured by Adhex Pharma, a French CDMO specializing in transdermal and oral film delivery systems. Rivastigmine is a reversible, non-competitive cholinesterase inhibitor that targets both acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE). By inhibiting these enzymes, Rivendo increases the concentration of acetylcholine in the synaptic cleft, thereby enhancing cholinergic neurotransmission and improving cognitive function in patients with dementia. The transdermal delivery system provides continuous drug release over 24 hours, maintaining stable plasma concentrations and potentially reducing the gastrointestinal side effects often associated with oral cholinesterase inhibitors. It is indicated for the treatment of mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease and dementia associated with Parkinson's disease.
