Overview

Rivoceranib is an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that selectively targets vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2). This drug works by inhibiting angiogenesis in cancer cells, specifically blocking VEGF-mediated endothelial cell migration and proliferation, which prevents new blood vessel formation in tumor tissue. Rivoceranib functions as a highly potent inhibitor of VEGFR-2, which is a primary pathway for tumor angiogenesis. By inhibiting this receptor, rivoceranib reduces VEGF-induced endothelial cell migration and proliferation, thereby inhibiting the angiogenesis essential for tumor growth and survival. Additionally, it has been shown to augment T-cell-mediated anti-tumor cytotoxicity. The drug also mildly inhibits c-Kit and c-SRC tyrosine kinases.
