Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rivoltan is a herbal pharmaceutical product developed and manufactured by Krewel Meuselbach. Its active ingredient is a dry extract derived from the root of Devil's Claw (*Harpagophytum procumbens*), with each film-coated tablet containing 480 mg of the extract. It is indicated for the supportive treatment of degenerative musculoskeletal disorders, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic back pain. The therapeutic effects are attributed to iridoid glycosides, such as harpagoside, which possess anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. These compounds help reduce joint pain and improve mobility by inhibiting inflammatory mediators. Rivoltan is available as an over-the-counter (OTC) medication in Germany.
