Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RJ8201 is a first-in-class small molecule inhibitor of serum/glucocorticoid-regulated kinase 1 (SGK1), currently in preclinical development by Nanjing Ruijie Pharma for the treatment of psoriasis. SGK1 is a key regulator of Th17 cell differentiation and the production of IL-17, cytokines that are central to the pathogenesis of psoriasis. By inhibiting SGK1, RJ8201 modulates the Th17/IL-17 signaling pathway to reduce inflammation. As an oral small molecule, it is designed to provide a more convenient and cost-effective alternative to injectable biologic therapies targeting the IL-23/IL-17 axis. The drug also has potential therapeutic applications in other Th17-mediated conditions, such as inflammatory bowel disease and dry eye disease.
