RJVA-001 is a preclinical gene therapy candidate developed by Fractyl Health for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. As the lead candidate of the Rejuva platform, it utilizes an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver a transgene encoding a potent glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analog directly to the pancreas. The therapy is designed to provide sustained, endogenous production of GLP-1 within the pancreatic islets, potentially offering a long-acting alternative to daily or weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist injections. It is delivered via a proprietary endoscopic procedure aimed at localizing the therapy to the target tissue to improve glycemic control and promote weight loss.
