Overview

RL490 is a multimer single-domain antibody (SDA) developed by SMIVET as a veterinary antitoxin for the treatment and prevention of tetanus. It specifically targets and neutralizes the tetanus toxin produced by the bacterium *Clostridium tetani*. By utilizing a recombinant single-domain antibody format, RL490 aims to provide a safer and more consistent alternative to traditional equine-derived serum antitoxins. The candidate achieved proof of concept in a 2019 clinical study in horses and is currently in Phase 1 development for use in multiple animal species, including horses, cats, dogs, and swine.
