rLCMV-TRP2 is a recombinant, non-replicating viral vector-based cancer vaccine constructed using the lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) backbone to express the tumor-associated antigen **TRP2** (tyrosinase-related protein 2)[3]. Designed as an immunotherapy for melanoma, its mechanism of action is to elicit TRP2-specific CD8^+^ T-cell responses to target and eradicate TRP2-expressing melanoma cells[1][3]. However, rLCMV-TRP2 is notably less effective at breaking immune tolerance and inducing strong antitumor T-cell responses compared to replicating LCMV-based TRP2 vaccines (artLCMV-TRP2)[1][3].
