Overview

RLIP-antibody (anti-RLIP76 antibody) is a polyclonal rabbit antibody targeting RalA-binding protein 1 (RALBP1, also known as RLIP76 or RLIP). RLIP76 is a stress-responsive, multi-functional membrane-associated transporter that effluxes glutathione-electrophile conjugates (GS-Es) and various chemotherapeutic drugs, thereby protecting cancer cells from apoptosis. By binding to and inhibiting the transport activity of RLIP76 at the cell surface, the RLIP-antibody triggers apoptosis in cancer cells and sensitizes them to chemotherapy. Preclinical studies, primarily led by researchers at the City of Hope and the University of North Texas Health Science Center, have demonstrated that treatment with RLIP-antibody leads to significant tumor regression in xenograft models of breast, lung, colon, prostate, kidney, and pancreatic cancers, as well as melanoma.
