**rLj-RGD3** is a recombinant protein derived from the buccal gland secretion of *Lampetra japonica* (a lamprey species), engineered by recombinant DNA technology. It consists of 118 amino acids, has a molecular weight between 13.5–14.5 kDa, and features three RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) motifs. rLj-RGD3 functions as a platelet integrin receptor antagonist, primarily by competitively inhibiting \u03b1IIb\u03b23 integrin (the platelet fibrinogen receptor), thereby suppressing platelet aggregation. This activity confers strong antithrombotic effects. Preclinical studies show it also inhibits tumor growth and metastasis and has demonstrated neuroprotective effects in models of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, linked to activation of the integrin-PI3K/Akt and FAK signaling pathways and apoptosis regulation (increasing Bcl-2, decreasing caspase-3). Investigational indications include antithrombotic therapy (e.g., malaria-associated coagulopathy), cancer, and cerebrovascular protection[1][2][3][4].
