Overview

RLP068 is a **cationic zinc phthalocyanine derivative** used in **photodynamic therapy (PDT)** for treating superficial bacterial and fungal infections. It works by producing **singlet oxygen** and other reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon activation by red light, leading to a rapid bactericidal and fungicidal effect. RLP068 is particularly effective against drug-resistant pathogens, such as **MRSA**, and is used to treat conditions like diabetic foot ulcers and venous ulcers. It is applied topically and activated with red light.
