RLVT-14-02 is a human monoclonal antibody being developed by Releviate Therapeutics as a first-in-class inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase-14 (MMP-14) for chronic neuropathic pain conditions such as small fiber neuropathy and diabetic neuropathy. Preclinical work from collaborators at the University of California, Riverside and Duke University suggests that selective blockade of MMP-14 interrupts matrix metalloproteinase–driven neuropathic pain pathways, with MMP-14 implicated in triggering chronic neuropathic pain and related neuroinflammatory changes.[9][1] The antibody is designed to be highly specific for MMP-14, aiming to reduce chronic pain while limiting off-target inhibition of other MMP family members and thereby potentially lowering the risk of mechanism-based adverse events.[9]
