Drug intelligence / Profile preview
rMal d 1 is the recombinant form of Mal d 1, a major allergenic protein from apple (Malus domestica) belonging to the pathogenesis-related class 10 (PR-10) proteins. It is a Bet v 1-like protein with a molecular weight of approximately 17.5 kDa and is recognized as one of the primary allergens responsible for apple allergy, particularly in individuals sensitized to birch pollen due to structural cross-reactivity. rMal d 1 is used primarily in diagnostic assays and research settings to detect specific IgE antibodies in patients suspected of having apple allergy or oral allergy syndrome (OAS). The mechanism involves IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reactions upon exposure. Recombinant production allows for standardized testing and controlled challenge studies[4][6][3].
