Overview

RMD1101 is a first-in-class, disease-modifying gene therapy developed by Remedium Bio for the treatment of osteoarthritis. It utilizes an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver the fibroblast growth factor 18 (FGF18) transgene directly into arthritic joints via a single intra-articular injection. The therapy promotes cartilage regeneration and chondrogenesis by increasing hyaline cartilage-associated gene expression and stimulating chondrocyte proliferation. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that RMD1101 induces dose-dependent increases in cartilage thickness, preserves subchondral bone geometry, and has an improved safety profile compared to protein-based FGF18 treatments. The therapy is based on Remedium Bio’s proprietary Prometheus™ platform technology designed for localized, durable expression of therapeutic genes with adjustable dosing capabilities[1][4][6][7].
