As part of the company's Prometheus platform, RMD1609 utilizes a glucose-responsive insulin (GRI) approach, delivering a transgene that enables the endogenous production of insulin in a self-regulating manner. This technology is designed to mimic the physiological response of pancreatic beta cells by adjusting insulin activity or expression based on blood glucose levels, aiming to provide long-term glycemic control and eliminate the need for daily insulin injections in patients with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. The program is exploring delivery via both Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors and Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) technologies.
