Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RmS-3 (Rhipicephalus microplus serpin-3) is a recombinant salivary gland serine protease inhibitor (serpin) from the cattle tick *Rhipicephalus microplus*. It is being developed as a veterinary vaccine candidate to control tick infestations in livestock, particularly cattle. RmS-3 acts as a suicide inhibitor of host serine proteases, including chymotrypsin, elastase, cathepsin G, and chymase, thereby disrupting host hemostasis, inflammation, and immune responses at the bite site. Immunization with RmS-3 has been shown to elicit protective antibody responses, reducing tick engorgement and reproductive capacity.
