Overview

rMV-Hu191 is an experimental **oncolytic virus therapy** based on a recombinant live-attenuated Chinese Hu191 measles virus vaccine strain generated by reverse genetics. It has been investigated preclinically as an anticancer agent across multiple solid tumors, including pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, breast cancer, and nephroblastoma. The virus preferentially infects and replicates in tumor cells, causing direct oncolysis and cancer cell death through mechanisms reported in different models to include apoptosis, autophagy, pyroptosis, oxidative DNA damage, and mitochondrial dysfunction, while also potentially promoting antitumor immune effects. Published work describes synergistic antitumor activity when combined with agents such as olaparib or cisplatin, but rMV-Hu191 does not appear to have established commercial approval and remains a research-stage virotherapy platform.
