Drug intelligence / Profile preview
RN-005 is a proprietary synthetic cyclodextrin developed by Renatus, in collaboration with Carbohyde, that functions as a cholesterol metabolism modulator. It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)—specifically diabetic nephropathy and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)—and Alzheimer's Disease. The drug is designed to address lipid-mediated damage; in Alzheimer's models, it has shown potential to reduce amyloid-beta plaques, tau phosphorylation, and neuroinflammation while improving cognitive function. In renal indications, it aims to mitigate the progression of kidney damage by modulating cholesterol levels within the kidney tissue.
