Overview

RN609 is a preclinical-stage small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutic candidate developed by Shanghai Rona Therapeutics. It is built upon the company's proprietary GAIA platform, which utilizes GalNAc (N-acetylgalactosamine) conjugation technology to achieve targeted delivery to hepatocytes in the liver. Once inside the cell, the siRNA leverages the endogenous RNA interference (RNAi) machinery to mediate the degradation of specific messenger RNA (mRNA) transcripts, thereby silencing the expression of the target gene. While the exact molecular target and primary indication for RN609 have not been publicly disclosed, the candidate is positioned within Rona's metabolic and cardiovascular disease pipeline, where liver-specific gene silencing is a primary therapeutic strategy.
