The RNA Editing Technology Project is a preclinical research program being developed through a joint R&D agreement between Solasia Pharma and EditForce. The program focuses on creating novel drug candidates for oncology and rare diseases using EditForce's proprietary pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) protein platform. PPR proteins are modular RNA-binding proteins that can be engineered to recognize specific RNA sequences and perform various manipulations, such as RNA editing, splicing control, and translational enhancement. This protein-based approach to RNA editing serves as an alternative to guide RNA-based systems like CRISPR, offering a different mechanism for correcting or modulating disease-related RNA transcripts at the post-transcriptional level.
