RNA4TNBC is a preclinical-stage RNA-based therapeutic candidate developed by Protheragen for the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). The drug utilizes a dual-action mechanism targeting microRNAs (miRNAs) that are significantly dysregulated in TNBC: it restores the levels of the tumor-suppressive miR-34a and inhibits the oncogenic miR-21. miR-34a restoration typically induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest by downregulating targets such as BCL2 and CDK4/6, while miR-21 inhibition reduces cell proliferation and invasion by derepressing tumor suppressors like PTEN. This combinatorial approach aims to overcome the heterogeneity and aggressiveness of TNBC by modulating multiple oncogenic pathways simultaneously. The project is currently available for licensing or partnership through Protheragen's pipeline.
