RNDP-001 is an investigational allogeneic cell therapy developed for the treatment of moderate to moderate-severe idiopathic and inherited forms of Parkinson's disease. It consists of dopaminergic neuron progenitor cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These progenitor cells are designed to be surgically delivered directly into the brain, where they differentiate into dopamine-producing neurons. The goal is to replace lost dopaminergic neurons, restore neural circuitry, increase dopamine signaling, and potentially halt or reverse disease progression. Preclinical studies have demonstrated robust survival of transplanted cells, innervation in key brain regions such as the striatum, and behavioral improvements in animal models. RNDP-001 is being advanced by Kenai Therapeutics with manufacturing support from FUJIFILM Cellular Dynamics and has received funding from organizations including the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Michael J. Fox Foundation[1][2][3][4][5].
