Overview

rNDV-PTEN is a recombinant Newcastle disease virus (NDV) engineered to express the human PTEN gene. It functions as an oncolytic virus therapy that selectively infects and kills cancer cells while delivering the tumor suppressor PTEN gene. The virus induces PTEN expression in cancer cells, which inhibits the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, promoting apoptosis and effectively inhibiting tumor growth. Research has shown promising results in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and glioblastoma (GBM) models, particularly in cancers with activated PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling caused by KRAS and PTEN gene mutations.
