RNV-1002 is an investigational small molecule drug candidate being developed by REDNVIA for the treatment of Calcific Aortic Valve Disease (CAVD). It is designed as a next-generation follow-on to the company's lead candidate, RNV-1001. RNV-1002 aims to inhibit the progression of valvular calcification by targeting the signaling pathways that drive the osteogenic differentiation of valve interstitial cells (VICs). REDNVIA's core research focuses on the succinate-SUCNR1 (GPR91) signaling axis, where succinate accumulation in stressed valves triggers calcification; RNV-1002 is intended to antagonize this process more potently than earlier iterations. The drug is currently in early-stage development as a potential non-surgical pharmacological intervention for patients with aortic stenosis.
