Overview

RO16-6491 is a **reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase type B (MAO-B)**, primarily used in research contexts. It binds specifically and with high affinity to MAO-B in tissues such as human brain mitochondria and platelet membranes. RO16-6491 shows weak inhibition of amine uptake at relatively high concentrations and is distinguished from irreversible MAO-B inhibitors by its reversible binding. The compound has also been used as a radioligand probe for mapping MAO-B distribution in tissues[1][3][5].
