Overview

RO0613479 is a small molecule inhibitor of oxidosqualene cyclase (OSC, also known as lanosterol synthase), an enzyme downstream of HMG-CoA reductase in the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway. Developed by Roche, RO0613479 is an analogue of RO0488071. It has been investigated for the treatment of dyslipidemia and hypercholesterolemia due to its ability to lower cholesterol levels. Additionally, RO0613479 has demonstrated antiproliferative and pro-apoptotic activity in various cancer models, including estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer cells, by disrupting endogenous cholesterol synthesis required for tumor cell growth and survival.
