Overview

RO6931643 is a small molecule PET imaging agent developed as a radiotracer for the in vivo visualization of tau protein aggregates in the brain. It is part of a series of compounds designed to bind with high affinity and specificity to tau aggregates, which are characteristic pathological features in Alzheimer's disease. The compound can be radiolabeled with carbon‑11 (11C) for use in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging studies. Preclinical studies demonstrated that RO6931643 has high affinity for tau aggregates, rapid brain uptake, and favorable washout kinetics, making it suitable as a diagnostic tool for assessing tau pathology in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease[2][3][7].
