Overview

RO7568282 (also known as RG6503) is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Roche for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It is designed as a second-generation immunotherapy targeting alpha-synuclein, a protein that misfolds and aggregates into Lewy bodies, which are the pathological hallmark of Parkinson's disease. RO7568282 specifically binds to these toxic alpha-synuclein aggregates to facilitate their clearance and prevent their cell-to-cell propagation throughout the central nervous system. By neutralizing the spread of these proteopathic seeds, the antibody aims to slow or halt the neurodegenerative process and the clinical progression of the disease. It represents a next-generation approach following Roche's earlier candidate, prasinezumab, and is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics.
