Overview
Roasted Nux Vomica Capsules is a hospital preparation developed and manufactured by The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. It is composed of processed (roasted) powder from the seeds of *Strychnos nux-vomica* L., a plant known for its high content of toxic alkaloids like strychnine and brucine. The roasting process is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique used to mitigate toxicity while preserving therapeutic properties. The capsules are specifically indicated for the treatment of bortezomib-induced peripheral neuropathy (BIPN) in patients with multiple myeloma. Clinical research suggests that the drug's efficacy may be mediated through the modulation of the long non-coding RNA ZFAS1 (lncRNA ZFAS1) pathway, which is involved in neuroprotection and the regulation of neurotoxicity.
