Robenidine

Robenidine is a synthetic coccidiostat and antibiotic primarily used in veterinary medicine to prevent and treat coccidiosis, a protozoal infection caused by various *Eimeria* species in poultry (broiler chickens, turkeys) and rabbits. It functions by interfering with the energy metabolism of coccidian parasites, disrupting mitochondrial function, and decreasing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, which is crucial for parasite survival and reproduction. Robenidine exhibits both coccidiostatic activity, by arresting the development of first-generation schizonts, and coccidiocidal effects, by directly killing second-generation schizonts and merozoites, thereby disrupting both asexual and sexual stages of the parasite's life cycle. It is typically administered orally as a medicated feed additive.
