It is utilized as a diagnostic agent for in vivo allergy testing, such as skin prick tests, to identify hypersensitivity to this specific pollen in individuals with pollinosis. [1] The mechanism of diagnosis involves introducing the extract into the skin, which in sensitized individuals, triggers a localized IgE-mediated immune response, manifesting as a wheal and flare. The allergenic profile of Robinia pseudoacacia pollen includes several panallergens, notably profilin, a calcium-binding protein (polcalcin), and 1,3-beta-glucanase, which can lead to cross-reactivity with other pollens.
