Rocuronium + lidocaine is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents commonly used in anesthesia practice. Rocuronium is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent (muscle relaxant) of the aminosteroid class, primarily used to facilitate tracheal intubation and provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. Lidocaine is an amide-type local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic agent, often administered intravenously to reduce pain on injection of other drugs (such as rocuronium or propofol), blunt hemodynamic responses to intubation, and potentially enhance the effects of neuromuscular blockers. When combined, lidocaine may improve intubating conditions by reducing pain from rocuronium injection and may slightly modify the onset or duration of neuromuscular blockade; however, evidence suggests that while lidocaine can improve patient comfort and block increases in heart rate after intubation, its effect on the pharmacodynamics of rocuronium is limited[1][3][8]. This combination does not have a unique brand name but represents concurrent use for procedural purposes.
