Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rohto Cooling Eye Drops (marketed as Rohto Cool Relief) is an over-the-counter ophthalmic formulation manufactured by The Mentholatum Company, a subsidiary of Rohto Pharmaceutical. The product contains two active ingredients: naphazoline hydrochloride (0.012%) and polysorbate 80 (0.2%). Naphazoline hydrochloride is a small molecule vasoconstrictor that acts as an alpha-adrenergic agonist, constricting blood vessels in the eye to reduce redness. Polysorbate 80 serves as a lubricant to provide relief from dryness and irritation. The formulation also features "CoolSense Technology," which incorporates menthol as an inactive ingredient to deliver a characteristic cooling sensation. It is indicated for the temporary relief of red, dry, and irritated eyes for up to 8 hours.
